YOU HAVE SET YOUR WEIGHT-LOSS GOAL, NOW IT'S TIME TO GO FOR IT

You have set your goal. You know where you wish to be one year down the line.

Now what?

It's inventory time again.

What physical activity do you love to do the most? Is it…
  1. Walking
  2. Running
  3. Jogging
  4. Climbing stairs (Ouch!)
  5. Dancing
  6. Biking
  7. Mountain Climbing (Ouch! Ouch!)
  8. Judo
  9. Karate
  10. Mopping the floor, dusting the house, carpet cleaning washing clothes
  11. Skipping
  12. Swimming
  13. Playing Tennis, Volleyball, Baseball.
What is that you will do even if no one prods you to do?

Suppose you love walking. Start with 5 minutes/day. Increase it to 10 minutes next week and so on till you reach one hr/day.

You love walking but doing it one hour doesn't appeal to you. No problem.

Just combine 30 minutes of walking with 30 minutes of swimming or biking.

Or you could do 15 minutes walking, 15 minutes biking, 15 minutes swimming and 15 minutes of dancing.

Wow! isn't that great. You could try any combination you like until you find a combination that you can stick to. Don't worry if after a month you don't like one combination let it a go and try another combination.

Sometimes it just seems impossible to keep to strict exercise regime or it could be that your physical and medical condition will not allow you the freedom of exercise.

Then you could try the option of diet control. You need to create a deficit of about 3000 calories to lose one pound. Spread over a week you need to just cut about 350-400 calories per day. That's equal 2 sweetened drinks like cola, fruit juice + some high fat snacks like bag of potato chips. Or you could prepare you low carb meals at home. We have a collection of over 300 delicious low carb recipes to choose from.

If you are a harried mother or a busy professional and don't have the time and energy to plan low carb meals for yourself then try something like Zone Diet. After sticking to it for a year you will gain healthy eating habits that will allow to keep a slim and trim figure naturally.

Exercise or diet, you need to do it day after day every day!

Now add something similar to the below to your Goal statement. But remember you can be flexible and change it anytime. I mean the second part!

"I would like to lose 15 kilos of weight by 2nd July 2004, because I want to look good, feel happy and healthy and play baseball with my 4 year old daughter.

I propose to achieve this goal of mine by losing 1.23 kgs/month.
or 41 grams/day.

My goal is by the end of two months I should be exercising one hour/day starting with 5 minutes/day and increasing it by 5 minutes every subsequent week

I am confident of achieving this goal by
  1. Walking 30 minutes a day (starting with 5 minutes/day for a week and increasing it gradually by 5 minutes for every subsequent week) - every day
  2. Simple stretching exercises - 10 minutes/day - every day
  3. Weight training - 30 minutes - 3 times a week (starting with 5 minutes on the first week and gradually increasing)
  4. Skipping - 500/day - starting with 25/day for a week and adding 25 skips every week)
or
Through dieting by consuming ……kcals/day and reducing my excess calorie intake by … calories/day.

Or something similar…

Rome was not built in one day.
And you did not gain all your weight in one day. It took years of eating and lazing around to gain that weight.

So you will need at least a year or so (groan …) to get it gradually off. But surely you will start feeling the difference in the first one month. You will more active, more full of energy and more cheerful. The thought that you are doing something do get your weight under control will give an added zing to your life.

So keep going at it.

Every day - day after day - in sun, in snow, in rain and in hail.

Just picture yourself doing this - don't you that glorious feeling that you are some sort of hero/heroine in a movie!

If you are not consistent and persistent you will soon lose focus and get back to your lethargic ways. So don't lose motivation. Stay focused on your goal and pound those pavements everyday or whatever method you have chosen to lose weight.

Don't forget your purpose on why you wish to lose weight and the process will not seem that difficult nor will you consider yourself a martyr who has to forego an hour's sleep to jog around the city.

You have a purpose and you are doing it because you want to do it! Let that point permeate your being and then it won't seem that difficult at all!

Even if you feel your exercise regime isn't fully right...don't worry just start doing it improve, change and fine tune it as you go along!...
